Mein Kampf
Hitler's autobiography and political manifesto, written partly in Landsberg prison after the failed 1923 Munich putsch, setting out the antisemitic and expansionist ideology of National Socialism.
Why it was banned: After 1945 the state of Bavaria, which held the copyright, refused to allow it to be reprinted in Germany; when the copyright expired at the end of 2015, the Institute for Contemporary History published an annotated critical edition in 2016. Its distribution is prohibited in Austria under the 1947 Prohibition Act, and Russia added it to its federal list of extremist materials in 2010.
