Books in the catalogue that were banned in Egypt, with what happened to each one.

Children of Gebelawi

An allegorical novel retelling the history of the Abrahamic religions through the generations of one Cairo neighbourhood, by the 1988 Nobel laureate; also published as Children of the Alley.

Why it was banned: Banned in Egypt after its serialisation in 1959; it was first published as a book in Lebanon in 1967, and not in Egypt until 2006.
